Raymond T. Elligett, Jr. — better known as Tom — is an appellate and trial lawyer with extensive experience in appeals, insurance coverage, eminent domain and personal injury litigation. Tom has participated in over 500 appeals since 1978, when he graduated
cum laude from Harvard Law School.
Tom has chaired the Hillsborough County Bar Association Appellate Practice Section and chaired The Florida Bar Appellate Practice Section from 1996 to 1997. He has co-authored the book
Florida Appellate Practice and Advocacy, now in its eighth edition, with the late Judge John M. Scheb, and has written over 110 published professional articles and participated in over 95 professional speaking engagements.
Tom has taught appellate practice as an adjunct professor at Stetson University College of Law for over 35 years. In addition to teaching as an adjunct law professor, he participated in the Florida Supreme Court Justice Teaching Program at Roosevelt Elementary School in Tampa. Tom has also served on the Development Council for Bay Area Legal Services, which provides legal services to the poor and working poor.
